Anyone can do it!

A young up and coming Irish designer,  Joanne Power (27) has had her dreams come true after being plucked from a student fashion show to dress Lady Gaga, the world's most controversial style icon.

But the NCAD graduate now faces an anxious week, waiting to see if Lady Gaga wears any of her six pieces. The designer quotes...
"Lady Gaga's stylist saw my MA collection and I sent out two long dresses, a top, skirt, coat and headpiece. Hopefully Lady Gaga might wear one of my pieces because as well as doing the Grammy's, she is doing a shoot for 'Elle' magazine and an interview with Jay Leno and I know she likes to support young designers."

After looking at some of Joanne's peices, i think they are very out there and very lady gaga. I particually like this black and white peice, simple but eyecatching with those classic leather gloves.

Kate's on top

This year seems to have started quite well for Kate Moss who has recently struck a deal with luxury brand Dior and will now be promoting the Dior Beauté line and more specifically the Dior Addict Lipstick.

Kate Moss the beautiful all time model who found fame through her long legs and mysterious eyes has landed herself another fun and very promotional job with Dior. It has now been confirmed Kate is the new face of Dior Beauté line and more specifically the Dior Addict Lipstick.

Move over Posh Geri's the NEXT big fashion thing!

Geri Halliwell who is a fifth of our loved spice girl group, has collaborated with Next to design a summer swim range to cater for all body shapes. Geri has claimed she 'wants women of all shapes and sizes to enjoy their bodies on holiday.'

Although i dont refer to celebritie collaborations, i am personally made up with Geri's new flair for design as the swim wear is practical and none the less very stylish. I know im getting myself to next ready for the summer holiday!!

Support your local shops!

Super markets have officially taken over, you cannot walk down your road without seeing one. Yes i beleive supermarkets are very handy as everything you need is in one place, but this is causing our local businesses that are usually run by families to close down as the custom has gone. People complain about the unemployed, well do your bit too and nip into your local butchers, fruit shop or bakery. Its not just food which the supermarkets have taken over but clothes as well. Mothers and also younger proffessionals have been introduced to supermarket clothing which is very handy as its right next to all your other weekly supplies. Morrisons is the only one of the Big Four supermarkets without a clothing line. Sainsbury’s has TU, Tesco has F&F and Asda has the highly successful Geroge brand. Not for long though as Morrisions is thought to be in talks with George Davies, creator of Next and George at Asda, to develop a fashion line for the supermarket.

Celebrities not all stylish!! (By themselves)

The loved friends star, Jennifer Aniston (42) is living prove that celebrities are not always ontop of the latest fashion trends. Well you may ask 'But she always looks so great in stylish outfits...' this is the work of Britains top sylists. Jennifer states herself, " I love clothes, but I don’t know what to put on myself, let alone others. I have a lot of help getting dressed." So next time getting ready look in the mirror and be proud of what you have acheived with your ampicable style.

Guo Pei hits the scene

Hong Kong is not known as a fashion leading country, there are no fashion lendgands that come from this city, but they are trying to change all this with two fashion weeks a year showcasing new hot designers that are bound to bring attention with their fresh take on fashion. One of my favourite collections was from Guo Pei, whose designs were extravergant and over the top with metalic colours and killer platform heels. I especially liked this collection because it was so eye catching with different 3 D shapes.

Pringle goes riding

Milan fashion week, from Gucci to Missoni but it was pringle that caught my eye. Pairing soft wollen knits with chic riding pants showing the tough male figure with a soft edge. I love this cardigan although its very big and baggy it looks warm and i wouldnt mind snuggling up in it!

New York

Just before christmas my Uncle took my sister and i to new york... yes i know how amazing! I couldnt beleive how different live there was, designer shops were everywhere i looked, proffessional business people flittered along every street. One of the main attractions there is the empire state building, which is the tallest building in Manhattan towering above all the others (this is a must see). I also went to the site where the twin towers were, this was all fenced off and they are building another momorial building in its place. Walking through Central Park, horse and carriages giving tourists the tour, joggers with their ear phones in place and a lonely old tramp with a trolley full of his belongings in plastic bags playing golf with a stick! This city is my favourite by far not just because of the high fashion but because of the exciting completely different lifestyle it brings!

Distressed Denim

I have just been making my own denim jacket with a twist whilst at college, I was so inspired by the new distressed denim styles from Topshop Unique (see picture above), that i went mad on it and i am left with a cropped torn fringed jacket with ever so cute little puffed sleeves and very carefully placed detailing. Its so unique and is so different to the normal plain jane denim jackets.
Picture of my jacket worn by model coming soon...
